MELBOURNE voters overwhelmingly support same-sex marriage, according to Greens MHR Adam Bandt.
In July, Mr Bandt put forward a motion calling for all MHRs to canvass the views of their constituents on gay marriage, and report back to Parliament.
Mr Bandt said he received “several thousand” emails on the issue, of which “90 per cent were in favour of marriage equality”. Only one respondent to a survey of 475 voters within his electorate opposed gay marriage.
