Australian Marriage Equality’s contingent in this year’s Midsumma Pride March will bring together representatives from Labor, the Liberals and the Greens.

Federal Shadow Attorney-General, Mark Dreyfus, will march with AME together with State Greens’ MP, Sue Pennicuik, who has introduced a same-sex marriage bill, and federal election Liberal candidate, Kevin Eckendahl, who was one of the first openly-gay Liberal candidates for the House of Representatives.

Convener of AME Victoria, Tim Peppard, said,

“By marching with representatives from all three parties we want to emphasise that marriage equality can only be achieved with cross-party co-operation.”

“Marriage equality is an issue which should unite people across the political spectrum, not divide.”

The Pride March begins at 2pm on Sunday Feb 2nd at the corner of Lakeside Drive and Fitzroy St, St Kilda. AME’s entry is the third in the parade.
