France is likely to become the latest country to legalise gay marriage, as Socialist president Francois Hollande moves to fulfil a promise he made during his campaign last spring.
But that promise is being met with resistance from conservative and religious groups in France, which took to the streets last weekend to protest the government’s proposals on same sex marriage and adoption.
