WHEN history is written, the enemies of equality and fairness are a footnote at best.

Those who stand for pushing the boundaries and for ensuring that human beings treat each other more decently are the heroes.

We all remember William Wilberforce, the British MP who campaigned for the abolition of slavery, or Martin Luther King and former US president Lyndon Johnson, who ensured African-Americans could vote and have civil rights.
