Marriage equality advocates have welcomed endorsement for the campaign from a growing list of Aussie celebrities.

Well loved celebrities includings Megan Gale and Jennifer Hawkins have put their weight behind the “I Do” campaignsupported by Marie Claire, Channel 7’s Sunrise program, Australian Marriage Equality and Get Up.

Meanwhile, celebrities including Rachel Griffiths, Daniel MacPherson, Lisa McCune, Magda Szubanski and Shane Jacobson will star in two up-coming performances of the play “8” about the referendum on marriage equality in the California in 2007, which will raise funds for Australian Marriage Equality’s ongoing campaign for reform.

Australian Marriage Equality national convener, Alex Greenwich, said,

“We’re over the moon that so many Australian celebrities are not only endorsing marriage equality but actively campaigning for it.”

“Like the majority of Australians who support this reform, Australian actors, singers, TV hosts and models are saying they want to live in a country where everyone everyone is treated equally.”

Other celebrities who have joined the campaign unveiled today include reality TV judge, Brian McFadden, Olympic gold-medial winning diver, Matthew Mitcham, TV host Dr Chris Brown and Dancing with the Stars co-host, Mel B.

Marriage Equality already has high-profile support from numerous Australian celebrities including actor, Hugh Jackman, singer/actor, Olivia Newton-John, Australian national rugby captain, David Pocock, comedian, Magda Szubanski, singer, Jimmy Barnes,  actor, Guy Pearce, and director Stephan Elliott
