Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (Brisbane) has set up a new webform to allow supporters of the Queensland Civil Union Act to voice their concerns about a possible repeal or watering-down of that Act by the new Queenland Government.

According to PFLAG national and Queensland spokesperson, Shelley Argent,

“If the Civil Union Act is repealed it will cause enormous personal and emotional distress to thousands of lesbians and gays and their families in Queensland. They will once again be seen as second class citizens in their own state, while the Government happily takes their taxes and society benefits from their careers and talents. Civil unions are not equal to marriage, but will be a safeguard should marriage equality fail at a federal level.”
