SYDNEY archbishop George Pell is pleading with the Federal Government not to allow gay marriage, saying the constructs of marriage are the glue that holds society together.

Cardinal Pell says it would be a “grave injustice” if children were “deliberately deprived” of a mother and father.

He made the remarks as part of his submission to a Senate inquiry into amendments to the Marriage Act.
