While Labor now officially endorses marriage equality, it has allowed a conscience vote on the issue, meaning any moves for reform will most likely be defeated. The fight for marriage equality is far from over. With Labor MPs allowed a conscience vote on the issue and the Coalition looking set to vote against it en bloc, most political commentators believe any legislation introduced to parliament would be doomed to failure.
