A DAY after the Labor Party defied its Prime Minister and voted to change its platform to allow gay marriage, Defence Minister Stephen Smith has called on Tony Abbott to explain why he won’t allow Coalition MPs a conscience vote on the issue.
Mr Smith, who supports gay marriage says he believes a bill on the matter would be supported in parliament if a conscience vote is allowed.
