NOT so long ago, Tasmania was the laughing stock of the country, the only state where intolerance against homosexual people was still enshrined in legislation.

In 1997, this was rectified by the passage of gay law reform. Since, the Tasmanian Labor Party has reinforced the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community.
