Robbie Moore, Convenor of Rainbow Labor Tasmania today said he “welcomes and congratulates the Tasmanian ALP Left on its unequivocal support for marriage equality being included in the ALP National Platform and strong position in making it binding party policy.”
“This is a significant move in the lead up to ALP National Conference and the campaign for marriage equality and ensuring that the ALP stay at the fore front of progressive policy in Australia.”
Below is the resolution as endorsed at today’s Tasmanian ALP Left AGM:
‘This meeting of the Tasmanian Left calls on the National Left to unequivocally take a position to National Conference to ensure a vote is held to amend the National Platform to support marriage equality and for all National Left members to support that position as binding party policy and reject attempts for a conscience vote on this issue.’
