Seven out of ten Australians support same-sex marriage

Both major political parties remain firmly against same-sex marriage, but 7 out of 10 of us are all for it.

The vote was fairly consistent around the nation, with Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory showing the strongest support. Even the states that were least in favour – South Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland – showed support from two-thirds of people.

Same-sex marriage opponents are more likely to be male, and support NRL. They’d eat Australian food over any other cuisine and have probably never smoked pot.
