Labor supporters have been invited to make submissions on policy, including gay marriage, for debate at the national conference in December.

The Australian Labor Party (ALP) has launched a website calling on members and individuals to suggest changes to party policy up for debate.

Gay rights advocates have urged submissions be made in support of same-sex marriage, a hot topic at this year’s ALP national conference.

“Australian Marriage Equality National Convener Alex Greenwich said the online form was an opportunity for ALP members to shape the agenda – and drive a policy shift on the issue.

“Obviously, same sex marriage is an issue that will be debated,” Mr Greenwich told AAP today. “From the ALP there are people in leadership roles in terms of premiers and cabinet ministers who support change … they will obviously want the backing and encouragement from people within the party.”
