75% of respondents to an on-going survey in the Sydney electorate of Wentworth have so far supported marriage equality, with only 15% supporting civil unions and 10% opposing to any recognition of same-sex relationships.

The figures are included in a letter sent by the MP for Wentworth, Malcolm Turnbull, to his constituents who have responded to the survey. Here is an extract.

“In round figures so far we have had about 3400 surveys completed of which 2200 were from Wentworth. The statistics are that about 75% were in favour of same sex marriage and of the balance about 15% were in favour of civil unions. In other words only about 10% were against same sex marriage AND civil unions. I will publish detailed and final statistics when the survey is complete. It will remain open for another week, so if you have friends who are thinking of completing it, encourage them to delay no further!”
