Australia’s lead marriage equality organisation has outlined the path forward to achieving marriage equality.

Australian Marriage Equality has released an upbeat video with a three point plan to win over support in parliament and the community.

The plan is:

1. Win the handful of votes still required to have a majority in parliament by running grassroots campaigns in key electorates

2. Show a plebiscite will be costly and unnecessary

3. Win a plebiscite if one is held by mobilising supporters, particularly in regional Australia, in the business community and among people of faith

Australian Marriage Equality national director, Rodney Croome, said,

“Our plan and the support of grass roots advocates across Australia will help make 2016 the year love wins.”

“We are charting a path to achieve marriage equality as soon as possible and not waiting around for a plebiscite to be called.”

“I urge all supporters of reform to share our video and let us know how they would like to contribute.”
