Advocates are seeking a meeting with Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop, to reassure her that marriage equality will not violate religious freedoms.

Ms Bishop has reportedly hinted her support for the reform but is concerned about religious freedoms.

Australian Marriage Equality national director, Rodney Croome, said,

“The overseas experience shows people of faith have nothing to fear from marriage equality, and that the reform actually enhances religious freedom.”

“We are seeking a meeting with Julie Bishop to outline the facts about the international experience and reassure her religious freedoms are safe.”
