Bill Shorten urged to press ahead.
Marriage equality advocates are still hopeful there will be cross-party support for marriage equality legislation despite Graham Perrett’s announcement that he is not the co-sponsor of legislation proposed by Liberal, Warren Entsch.

Australian Marriage Equality national director, Rodney Croome, said,

“We remain hopeful that a cross-party bill will emerge soon and that Graham Perrett will be involved, given his strong support for the issue.”

“In the absence of a cross-party bill, we urge Bill Shorten and Tanya Plibersek to press ahead with their bill and to continue keeping the issue before parliament.”

“We’re looking forward to meeting all the main stakeholders next week in Canberra and seeking greater cross-party co-operation.”
