TEN cordially invites you to the television wedding of the year. Save the date as Modern Family’s Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron Tucker (Eric Stonestreet) tie the knot.

In typical Modern Family fashion, Mitchell and Cameron’s journey to the aisle on the big day itself does not run smoothly.

Raging wildfires, a closed dry cleaner and family drama threaten to halt the festivities before they begin. Expect a day of laughs and tears as an unexpected turn of events finally leads to the momentous ceremony that audiences all over the world have been waiting for.

The star-studded finale includes a flashback to the Australian episode and features guest stars Elizabeth Banks as Mitch and Cam’s wild and boozy wedding officiant Sal, Nathan Lane as wedding planner extraordinaire Pepper Saltzman and Pitch Perfect’s Adam DeVine as male nanny Andy.

The highly anticipated marriage of one of television’s most popular same-sex couples highlights the issue of marriage equality in Australia, where same-sex marriages are not legal.

Rodney Croome, National Director of Australian Marriage Equality, said: “This week’s groundbreaking Modern Family wedding is a reminder that love, commitment and family are what marriage equality is all about.

“I call on politicians from all parties to have a heart and let loving couples like Mitch and Cam marry in Australia. As the Modern Family wedding shows, gay and straight people share the same aspiration to love and be loved, and it’s time we also shared the same legal rights, responsibilities and recognition.”
