September marks one year since the last vote on marriage in Australian parliament, when only 42 voted for change while 98 stuck their hands up and voted against our equal rights.

Kevin Rudd’s got our back now but that’s still not enough.

This weekend Australians are coming out in force with SEVEN Marriage Equality rallies around the nation as supporters hit the streets to show the politicians that no matter who wins the election we will not be silent until we have full equality!

Six of the seven rallies are being held on Saturday 31st August.

Even those as far out as Toowoomba in Queensland are showing their support by gathering bright and early at 10am at Alfred Place, 27 Victoria Street.

Canberra, is our nation’s capital after all, and the perfect place to make a stand, so why not head to Petrie Plaza, Civic, at 1pm?

Are you in Perth? Your rally starts at 1pm at Stirling Gardens, so get there to show your support.

To make sure your voice is heard in Adelaide, head to Parliament House at 1pm.

And if you’re in Ballarat in Victoria then head to The Ballarat Skate Park on Barkley St at 2pm.

NSW is getting a double dose of activism over the weekend, with their first rally in Manly on Saturday in front of the Manly Council building in the Corso at 2pm.

Sunday may be Father’s Day but that won’t stop the people of Sydney standing up for their rights and rallying at the Sydney Town Hall from 12pm.

Brisbane, Melbourne and Newcastle have held pre-election rallies for marriage equality in the past weeks with the Victorian rally making the front page of the Sunday Age.

With the election just over a week away, now’s the time to come together and make a stand for equal rights.

And if you’re in Melbourne on Saturday, don’t forget about the LGBTI 2013 Election Forum at DnM Bar on Commercial Road where you can ask the questions that matter to you and your community directly to the three major political parties with representatives of the ALP, Coalition and Greens.
