MAYOR Simon Richardson’s bid for Byron to lead the charge for marriage equality in Australia will come before council on Thursday in what is shaping up as an important meeting.
The gay marriage move as reported by the Byron Shire News last month has attracted calls for the mayor to concentrate on basics like roads, rates and rubbish from both residents and fellow councillors.
But it has also generated passionate support after it was reported around the country.
