A bill to legalise same-sex marriage in New Zealand would get through its first stage according to a poll run by that country’s Herald newspaper.
The poll found a slight majority of 61 MPs would at least want the Private Member’s Bill to go on to the select committee stage.
The bill will be subject to a conscience vote on all sides and needs just 61 votes to succeed.
