The “Same-Sex Marriage and Australian Identity” Round Table

ANU’s Burton and Garran Hall will be conducting its third Roundtable discussion at 7:30pm on Wednesday, 1 August 2012, on “Same-Sex Marriage and Australian Identity”.

Time: 7.30 pm (arrive by 7.25pm)
Venue: Burton and Garran Hall, 49 Daley Road, Acton, at the Australian National University, Canberra.

It is expected that a range of issues will be discussed, with the focus being on how Australian attitudes towards this subject have changed over time, why this is so, and what the future holds.

On the panel:

Mr John Kloprogge: Board Member, Australian Marriage Equality.
Professor Terence Hull: Professor of Population, Health and Development (research areas include demographics, family, sexuality and the Asia Pacific).
Mr Nick Jensen: ACT Director of the Australian Christian Lobby.
Mr Frank Gafa: Representative of Equal Love Canberra.
The Venerable Ian Palmer: Archdeacon for Queanbeyan and South Canberra.
Professor John Warhurst: Adjunct Professor, ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (research areas include religion and politics).

Logistical information:

Please arrive at Burton and Garran Hall (49 Daley Road, Acton, 2601 – on the ANU campus) by 7:25 pm. The evening is expected to run as follows:

7:30 pm – Welcome and introduction to the event.
7:35 pm – Individual speeches
8:10 pm – Panel discussion.
8:40 pm – Short interval
8:45 pm – Questions from the audience. This will follow a similar format to that
9:25 pm – Concluding remarks.
9:30 pm – Event closes.
