THE pressure on Tony Abbott to allow his partyroom a conscience vote on same-sex marriage has intensified after two Liberal senators spoke out in support of changing the Marriage Act and a right to have their say in parliament.

Frontbencher Simon Birmingham and Queensland senator Sue Boyce yesterday broke ranks and supported findings by a Senate committee inquiry into a Greens-sponsored bill, which recommended a conscience vote on the issue and the law to be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry.
