FEDERAL MPs could cast their vote on a bill to allow gay marriage as early as next week.
It’s understood the speakers’ list on Labor MP Stephen Jones’ marriage equality bill has been exhausted, removing any impediment against an early vote.
Gay marriage opponents in the caucus are pushing for the bill to be considered as early as next week, believing the issue will further weaken Labor’s vote unless it is swiftly dealt with.
