GAY marriage is backed by a majority of Australian voters, but Julia Gillard is unlikely to secure a poll bounce if she follows Barack Obama and embraces reform.
According to a Galaxy poll commissioned exclusively for the Sunday Herald Sun, 50 per cent of voters surveyed now support laws allowing same-sex couples to marry in Australia.
Just one in three voters now oppose gay marriage, with 17 per cent of those surveyed uncommitted.
