I HAVE worn the same gold band on my wedding finger for close to a decade now. I cherish it almost as much as I do my wife.

That band, both metaphorically and physically, may be slightly chipped and worn in places due to the knocks and bumps that life deals out, but overall it feels more comfortable and secure where it lies with every passing year.

As such, the modest little hoop of metal is hugely important to me, and is not only a symbol but more significantly a metaphor for my marriage.
