Iconic rock singer Angry Anderson has become the latest person to give their unlikely support for marriage equality with the prospective Nationals candidate for the next federal election saying that he fails to understand why marriage continues to be denied to the gay and lesbian community.

In a wide-ranging interview with the Sun-Herald yesterday, during which the Rose Tattoo frontman discussed his political beliefs as well as his “f—in’ way too long” use of alcohol and other drugs, Anderson said that his views regarding homosexuality had evolved over time despite growing up as a “homophobe” in a community where “everyone hated poofters”.
