Division within the Labor party over gay marriage has intensified ahead of today’s ALP conference, with the convenor of the Right faction declaring it will vote as a bloc to back the Prime Minister’s call for a conscience vote.
It looks likely Labor will change its platform to allow gay marriage but it is still less certain if the party will also accept Ms Gillard’s view there should be a conscience vote in Parliament on the issue.
