THE Labor Right moved last night to bind its members to support a conscience vote on gay marriage in an attempt to spare Julia Gillard a humiliating policy defeat at the ALP national conference this weekend.

But while the NSW Right is expected to stick to the resolution passed during crisis meetings, the faction nationally is divided and breakaways are still expected in other states.
