There would still be a push for change in Labor policy on gay marriage at its National Conference in December despite the increasing likelihood MPs will be given a conscience vote on the issue, marriage equality advocates say.
The Prime Minister Julia Gillard is likely to allow MPs a conscience vote on same-sex marriage as a way of deflecting pressure from Labor’s left faction to adopt a formal position on the issue, News Ltd reports.
