ATTENDEES at Sunday’s gay rights rally have gained support from an unlikely source with Good Shepherd Catholic Parish priest Father Mick Lowcock saying he supports the right of gay people to have their relationships formally recognised by Australian law.

“I’ve got no problem with people wanting their relationships recognised,” he said.

Father Mick said while he had no issue with civil unions for same sex couples, marriage in the eyes of the church would remain solely for heterosexual couples.
