James Newburrie is an openly gay IT security specialist who lives in Mount Isa.
He organised Sunday’s gay rights rally outside Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter’s electorate office on Sunday.

I know that I will never change Mr Katter’s mind. So you may ask: what was the point?

Seventy people came to a rally in a town of 23,000. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but if Mount Isa were the size of Melbourne, those 70 people would scale up to nearly 12,000 people.
