Federal MPs are still divided on the issue of same sex marriage, and so, it seems, are Australians.

The Daily Telegraph reports in parliament this morning Greens MP Adam Bandt reported that following a survey of his electorate of Melbourne, only one of the 475 respondents was opposed to same sex marriage.

Mr Bandt, who successfully passed a motion in the House of Representatives in November last year requiring MPs to consult their constituents about same sex marriage, said he had received “several thousand emails” on the issue and more than nine in 10 constituents had expressed support for “marriage equality”.
