ACT Chief Minister Jon Stanhope has told a Senate Committee those who oppose the democratic rights of Canberrans are not “thinking Australians”.

A Senate inquiry is being held today into the Greens Self-Government Bill on the political autonomy of the territories.

Under the proposed changes, the Federal Parliament would be able to veto legislation in the ACT and Northern Territory, but not an individual government minister.
