This year’s Mardi Gras Parade was one of the biggest ever with thousands lining the streets to watch 135 floats and 8,500 marchers which included the ever popular marching boys and drag queens.
The Parade theme was marriage equality and Mardi Gras CEO Michael Rolik praised the “overwhelming support for equal rights for GLBTQ people” adding that, “while the government are happy to allow the queer community to throw a party that generates $30 mil for the local economy, they still won’t allow us to get married”.
