Adam Bandt, the federal MP behind a push to legally recognise same-sex marriage says he’s encouraged by senior Labor and Liberal figures seeking the views of their electorates.

Former Liberal leader Malcolm Turnbull is the latest senior political figure to canvass voters on the issue, launching a survey on his website.

“This survey is important as community views on marriage and the legal status of same-sex relationships are rapidly changing,” Mr Turnbull wrote on the website.
