Federal MP for Wentworth, Malcolm Turnbull, will use a web survey to gauge community opinion on gay marriage.

“Malcolm has already canvassed the views of the electorate on the issue of marriage equality long before the Greens sought to compel parliamentarians to do so late last year,” a spokesman for Mr Turnbull said. “Since then, he has spoken with prominent members of the gay community as well as members of his own party on the issue.”

One high profile couple who have already shared their views with Mr Turnbull are Professor Kerryn Phelps and her wife, Jackie Stricker-Phelps, of Double Bay.

Prof Phelps will be introducing British gay marriage activist Peter Tatchell when he speaks at the Seymour Centre on Saturday, February 19, as part of the Mardi Gras Festival.
